Sinulog grand parade advisory

Here are guidelines for the establishments and homes that are right beside the Sinulog grand parade carousel route on January 15, 2012:

Comfort room:

The Sinulog Foundation Inc. encourages establishments near the parade route to open your comfort rooms to the spectators. You may charge them minimal for the use of your comfort room.

Parade route-selling booth permits:

Take advantage of the opportunity but make it legal. Register and get the right permits to go into a one day food business. Only official Sinulog vendors will be allowed to sell on route of the parade. Proper IDs and vendors kiosks are available at the Sinulog Foundation. For more information, call 253-3700.

Official one-day Sinulog kiosk vendors have been allocated a space on route of the parade. They will be properly manned and identified (ID and kiosk).

No permits for street parties:

For January 15, there will be no permits granted to any establishment on route of the parade who will want to host a party outside of their premises.

Prior to January 15, any event from January 6-14, 2012 will require permits issued by the Sinulog Foundation and City Hall. All traffic and safety requirements have to be identified.

Other notices for January 15:

* The roads to the grand parade carousel route will be closed to vehicular traffic starting 4 a.m.

* Osmena Blvd. and Mango Avenue roads will remain closed even after the parade has ended. Closure shall remain till about 12 midnight of January 16.

* No cars will be allowed to park on the roads and pedestrian pathways. Cars parked and violating these rules or obstructing traffic and the flow of the parade will be towed. Traffic violation fees and towing fees will be applied.

* No hanging or nailing of commercial banners in streets, posts or trees. Only official Sinulog event banners are allowed to be displayed. They have been processed proper permits.

 

One-Day Sinulog Street Fair

The Street Fair will be on January 15, 2012.

Rules and Guidelines:

1. The Sinulog Street Fair is open to all interested participants.

2. Registration fee is P2,500 per stall, payable upon reservation.

3. Display area is 2m x 2m allocated for each stall, measured from the edge of the gater to the center of the road.

4. Only the table and umbrella provided by the Sinulog Foundation will be allowed in the street fair.

5. No cooking using Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) will be allowed.

6. Street fair participants may be allowed to set up their stalls starting 9 p.m. of January 14, 2012 until 11 p.m. of January 15, 2012 provided however that it will not hamper the flow of vehicular traffic.

7. Giving free samples and other marketing activities are prohibited.

8. ID cards and other permits shall be displayed or attached to the umbrella at all times.

9. Selling beers and other intoxicating drinks is strictly prohibited.

10. No washing of dishes and utensils, only disposable will be allowed.

11. Sinulog Foundation Inc. reserves the right to accept or reject any application from any party.

Sinulog online tickets

Additional instructions for buying Sinulog tickets online:

1. For those buying yellow, green, pink and white tickets, you will receive a confirmatory email upon receipt of your payment.

2. For balikbayans who wish to buy the blue tickets, please scan copy of your passport showing your entry to a country abroad and your ticket to Cebu. Email it to sunnexdesk@gmail.com and sunnex@sunstar.com.ph. You will receive a confirmatory email upon receipt of your payment and supporting documents.

3. You can claim your tickets at Sun.Star office at P. del Rosario St., Cebu City.  Bring two (2) valid IDs and look for Ms. Jojo Elesterio.

Sinulog 2012 Musicfest

Guidelines:

1. Open to all bands who can present the best Sinulog music interpretation (any of the official Sinulog compositions), materials of which may be procured from the Sinulog Foundation office. The use of any musical instruments whether bass, wind, drums, native materials like bamboos, leaves, woods, etc. is highly encouraged.

2. Presentations must be within the minimum of three (3) minutes only. An excess will merit the five (5)-point deduction from the total score.

3. Compositions are within the minimum eight (8) to a maximum of 15 members. An excess will merit the five-point deduction from the total score.

4. Participants who will be involved in any misconduct within the contest period and after the competition will be banned lifetime by the Sinulog Foundation Inc. from participating in future competition. Further, participants who will commit such acts will be dealt with accordingly by the Foundation and the Cebu City Police Office.

5. Audition will be on December 30, 2011, 7 a.m. at the Cebu City Sports Center.

6. Participants are required to submit the names of the band members. A 3R photo of the group must also be attached in the entry form given.

7. A total of eight (8) finalists will be chosen. Grand finals will be held on January 14, 2012, 8:30 p.m. at the Fuente Osmena stage.

Prizes:

1st prize – P20,000 + trophy
2nd prize – P10,000 + trophy
3rd prize – P5,000 + trophy
5 Consolation prizes – P1,000

Criteria for Judging:

Musicality (Variation, contrast of musical levels/dynamics) – 50%
Showmanship (Group execution, coordination ) – 25%
Costume – 15%
Overall impact – 10%
Total – 100%

Best Dance Crew

Guidelines:

1. Open to all dance groups. Dance presentation must be within the maximum of three (3) minutes only. An excess will merit the five (5)-point deduction from the total score.

2. Composition of dancers is within the minimum of ten (10) to a maximum of sixteen (16) dancers. An excess will merit the five-point deduction from the total score.

3. Participants who will be involved in any misconduct within the contest period will be banned lifetime by the Sinulog Foundation Inc. from participating in future competition. Further, participants who will commit such acts will be dealt with accordingly by the Foundation and the Cebu City Police Office.

4. Participants/the group must present a wholesome presentation and are prohibited from exhibiting or manifesting acts or gestures and movements offensive to any aggrupations or groups. In the event of violation of this rule, the Committee reserves the right to disallow the offending contingent to continue further its participation in the contest.

5. Dance groups are required to submit names of members on or before December 15, 2011.

6. Eliminations will be held on December 30, 2011, 6 a.m. at the Cebu City Sports Center. A total of eight (8) finalists will be declared. Finals will be held on January 14, 2012, 6 p.m. at the Fuente Osmena Stage.

Criteria for Judging:

Performance (fluidity, rhythm, synchronization, difficulty of movements — 45%
Creativity (hip-hop style, originality) – 25%
Showmanship/impact – 20%
Costume – 10%
Total – 100%

On-the-Spot-Painting

WHEN: December 12, 2011

THEME: “Cebu, City of Culture.”

Rules and Regulations:

• The competition is open to all Filipino painters of all ages.

• A participant is allowed only one entry, interaction pieces or group efforts will not be accepted.

• The entry may either be oil or acrylic on canvas, or watercolor paper.

• Mixed media, collages, assemblages, sculptures, tarpaulin or digital prints will not be accepted.

• The sizes of the entry should be 16’’x 20’’, 20’’ x 16’’, 18’’x24’’, and 24’’x 18’’.

• The participants may render the common theme of “Cebu, City of Culture” in any style (Renaissance, Gothic, Baroque, Impressionist, Fauvist, Cubist, Surrealist, Realist, Super-Realist, and Social Realist).

• Non-figurative abstract paintings will not be accepted.

• All entries must be signed and dated. With a piece of paper posted at the back bearing necessary details such as the artist’s name, address, contact numbers, entry title, size, medium, and gallery price. Entries with incomplete information will not be accepted.

• Registration will start at exactly 9:30 a.m.

• The competition proper is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• The artist must submit a properly accomplished official entry form containing a 1×1 photo of the artist, biodata or curriculum vitae.

• All entries must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Dec. 12 at the Fort San Pedro National Coliseum at the port area in Cebu City.

• The decision of the screening panel and the board of judges shall be final.

• The names of finalists will be announced at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 12, and the finalists will be requested to have their artworks properly framed in preparation for the exhibition. This must be submitted on the day of the competition.

• The awarding ceremony and the opening of the exhibition of finalists shall be at the Fort San Pedro National Museum at 6 p.m. of Dec. 12. All participants are invited to attend.

• The artworks can be taken back on Jan. 16, 2012 at the Sinulog Hall from 2-5 p.m.

• All top three winning entries shall become the property of Sinulog Foundation Inc.

• The Cebu City Cultural and Historical Affairs Commission, Sinulog Foundation or any of the institutions/ agencies involved in the implementation of the competition shall not be held liable for any damage to the artwork as a result of the competition and exhibition, or the failure of the participant to follow the rules and regulations.

• The criteria for judging are relevance to the theme (40 percent), creativity and originality (20 percent), composition and visual impact (20 percent), and technique (20 percent).

PRIZES:

First prize — P20,000 cash and a trophy
Second prize — P10,000 cash and a trophy
Third prize — P5,000 and a trophy.

7 honorable mentions = P2,000 each and a certificate

Poster making contest

Contest Mechanics and Guidelines:

1. The contest is open to all individuals aged 18-12 years old.

2. The contest theme revolves around “One Beat, One Dance, One Vision” and Cebu…City of picture.

3. Interested individuals shall create a poster following the theme of the contest.

4. Interested individuals are free to use any medium in making the poster. The poster shall be placed on 15″x20″ sized illustration board. Slogan may be written in English or Filipino.

5. All artworks must be done only on the spot, and must be completed within the allotted time of one hour.

6. All entries will be pre-numbered. No signatures, names or other identifying marks should appear at either side of the material of the entry.

7. Sinulog Foundation Inc. has the right to use any or all of the design in displays and for the publication of any of its information materials such as brochures, leaflets, poster, etc. The name of the participant shall be duly acknowledged.

8. All designs of entry for the contest shall be considered as property of Sinulog Foundation Inc.

9. The contest will be held on December 17, 2011, 2 p.m. at the Activity Area, fourth floor, Elizabeth Mall.

Criteria for Judging:

* Theme/Concept (Originality) — 30%
* Relevance — 30%
* Overall Visual Impact — 40%

1. The use of indigenous or creative instruments from native materials like bamboos, leaves, woods, etc., is highly encouraged.

2. The composition must be within the minimum of twenty (20) and a maximum of thirty (30) drummers / instrumentalist. An excess will merit the five (5) point deduction from the total score.

3. As an integral part of the contingent, instrumentalists must be in proper attire relevant to the interpretation of their chosen theme / concept.

    Creativity and artistry of steps and floor pattern, style.

    Artistic choice of color combination style and accessories. Effective use of props relevant to the interpretation of the theme / concept.
  • VISUAL IMPACT -10%
    Unified and coherent impact of the whole presentation.
  • MUSICALITY -10%
    Adherence to the use of the Sinulog drumbeat.

GUIDELINES

1. The dance entry must depict any theme or concept that is relevant to the Sinulog. Emphasis must be given to the concept of prayer.

2. The Sinulog beat shall be used however slight variations may be allowed. Any other beat is strictly prohibited and only live musical or percussion instrument shall be used. Three points (3) shall be deducted from the total score against any contingent who violates this provision.

3. Dance steps and choreography should be progressive all through out the parade route to facilitate the continuity and orderly flow of the parade. Three (3) points shall be deducted from the total score against any contingent who violates this provision.

4. There shall be judges along the parade route to ensure the continuity of the performance.

5. Props must be relevant to the theme and carried by the dancers.
